Annual Implementation Plan
The Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) describes how the key improvement strategies in the school strategic plan, and other significant projects, will be put into operation during the year and how they will be monitored.
It assists our school to:
- plan and communicate their work for the coming year and how this will lead to achieving their identified goals and targets
- ensure efficient and effective allocation of resources to complete the work
- monitor progress and success
Annual Implementation Plan (AIP)
A detailed plan encompassing actions, roles, responsibilities, timelines and success criteria for the next 12 months
A learning goal identifies the purpose and learning outcome for a particular lesson(s).
A success criteria outlines the skills and knowledge students need to implement to achieve the learning goal.
The New Art and Science of Teaching
The New Art and Science of Teaching is researched based theory, exploring and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) and Professional Learning Community (PLC)
Groups of teachers work collaboratively at the school level to improve student outcomes.
At NMPS, year level teachers work in Professional Learning Teams. Each team is guaranteed more than 100 minutes per week to work in PLTs. As a whole staff, teachers work collaboratively in the Professional Learning Community once a week. The focus of these PLCs are to build teacher capacity to achieve better results for our students, through professional dialogue, research, instructional videos, presenters etc.
Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC)
A Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum ensures that all students have an equal opportunity to learn. Each student will have access to an effective or highly effective teacher, and access to the same content, knowledge and skills in each section or class (Marzano, 2003).
The knowledge and skills all students must acquire throughout the year.
Provides our school with a clear and united way to continue to work together to build the professional capabilities of our teachers and improve the learning experiences and standards of our students.
Teaching and Learning Cycle
The teaching and learning cycle is a professional development process in which teachers collaboratively plan and implement lessons based on student data.
At NMPS our Teaching and Learning Cycle is based on Richard DuFour’s research and based on the following questions:
- How will we increase our professional knowledge and practice to meet the needs of our students?
- What do we expect our students to know?
- How will we plan for our students learning?
- What is the evidence of their learning and what does this tell us?
- Where are our students in their learning now?
