ResourceSmart Schools Sustainability Program

About
North Melbourne Primary School is enthusiastically committed to improving student learning outcomes and providing teaching approaches that meet the needs of all students; not just in words but in our actions. Embedding sustainable practices within our school is a key component to supporting our children in becoming socially responsible global citizens.
As a school we work together to reduce water, energy and waste, and create an environment rich in biodiversity. Through professional development we will up-skill our teachers to support our students in learning about sustainability through hands on learning opportunities. We will use renewable energy (solar power) when available and offset our carbon footprint through our purchase choices and conservation efforts within our school.

National Water Week (21-27 October), is a great time to remind ourselves and teach others that access to clean water is essential to our lives.
This years City West Water Annual Poster Competition theme is It’s time to change the world. This has has been adapted from the World's Largest Lesson on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, a campaign to introduce the 17 sustainable development goals to young people all over the world and unite them to take action to meet these goals by 2030.
We had a huge participation from our Eco Warriors this year. Here are a few posters that students have submitted for consideration. The amount of thought, detail and effort that was put into the posters was incredible.
Congratulations to all students who participated. If any students are successful they will be notified next term.
