Gardening

Students in Prep to Year 2 participate in gardening classes for one term each year.

Years 3-6 have the opportunity for one term each year to participate in the kitchen program.

Children involved in the garden program will be preparing and planting seedlings, learning about soil quality, whilst also harvesting different herbs, greens, vegetables, and fruits. The gardening classes teach young children about seasonal and Indigenous produce and about respecting the land the produce is grown on.

Cooking

Students in Years Three to Six, have the privilege of harvesting this produce from our garden to prepare healthy, vegetarian seasonal snacks and meals, whilst enjoying eating a meal together and learning vital kitchen life skills such as preparation of different foods and basic knife skills.

The SAKG program provides our children with positive food habits through fun, hands-on learning. Children love preparing recipes, learning new skills, and tasting new foods.
